If you say so, I'll take that as a given - but let's not get too far from the point. Kacy's claim is that production of a battery pack produces more CO2 than an equivalent internal combustion engine would produce over the pack's lifetime. That's laughably false - even granting the headline figure of 17.5 tonnes of CO2 to produce a 100kWh pack, by 160k miles that's dwarfed by the savings. A hypothetical battery pack that is only every charged from non-CO2-producing sources would have saved 96 tonnes of CO2 by 160k miles - so 78.5 tonnes net savings. And, as per the real-world experiences in the article I linked, these packs may last as long as half a million miles (300 tonnes CO2 offset) before finally needing replacement.
