Towns are not being destroyed deliberately and for sheets and giggles. They are being destroyed, because the Ukrainian army houses/deploy troops and equipment in there.
If the Ukrainian government/army really cared about the towns, they would take all the battles outside the populated areas, and not hide behind civilians, like what Hamas does in Gaza.
