Sure in this case no gains have been made yet - but we are only talking over a couple of years which in reality is NOTHING in terms of a property investment. Lets see what this property is worth in 10 years then pass judgment. In this case he could have just as easily held off his purchase and the property price in the area goes up. Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it!
