Im happy for Christian the Central Bankers consultant to claim there is no manipulation in silver and gold. Im also happy for Christian to claim that the Perth Mint has silver oosing out the doors, that the Chinese didnt say the US were manipulating gold, and even for him to say that Central bankers never indicated they were interested in controlling the price of gold. I am amazed that such a brazen denial in the face of numerous confessions even gets a hearing.
Its his job to misrepresent the evidence and his tactics identify his character.
Just to re-cap a few evidences;
- General Counsel of the U.S. Federal Reserve Board, J. Virgil Mattingly minuted in 1995 FOMC minutes that the Treasury's EFSF had undertaken gold swaps
- The Washington Agreement on Gold, made by the European central banks in 1999 promising to control the gold price
- Barrick Gold, the former largest gold-mining company in the world claiming immunity from prosecution for manipulation by being an agent of the Central Bank
- Former head of the monetary and economic department of the Bank for International Settlements, William S. White at a 2005 conference held by BIS called the Past and Future of Central Bank Cooperation describing a linchpin of Central bank cooperation to influence gold and other asset prices
- A cable dated March 6, 1968, sent by someone named Deming at the U.S. Embassy in Paris to the State Department in Washington suggesting how Central Banks remain 'Masters of Gold'
- A CIA 1968 memo promising to obtain pledges from Central Banks to assist in the control of gold prices
- A 1975 memo from former Federal Reserve Board Chairman Arthur Burns to President Gerald Ford explaining how they control the gold price
- Federal Reserve Board of Governors member, Kevin M. Warsh admitting to GATA in writing in 2010 that the US Federal Reserve conducts gold swaps in secret with foreign banks
We can understand the motive of CPM's Jeffrey Christian as a paid consultant to the central banks and exchanges. What is a little harder to understand is the motive and authority of characters posting on HotCopper claiming GATA have no evidence of manipulation or intent.
