Just out of interest - does anyone prefer to read novels by a person of their own gender? I am male and about 90% of the novels I read are written by males. I put it down to having a better insight into ones own gender psyche. Nothing worse than a male author (or visa versa) writing about a lead character who is of the opposite gender . How could they really have a true understanding of what goes on in their character's head. As far as I'm concerned, its not about the quality of writing but making a connection.
