Trump played it well targetting the marginal states with good electoral collage votes. He won, by doing so. Three million less votes than HC does not make him a popular choice and you know it as well to the right however you dress the facts. When you lot blabber about SA State election result first thing many have said is popular vote actually with LNP (two party preferred), making it an un popular govt (I agree). Be consistent - am sure the crying on here was the same by the right when ALP won Qld.
Hope Trump succeeds but I doubt he will be able to deliver on his agenda, and that will become a problem for him IMO. Promised a lot but has no power to deliver - the retaliation from China if he put tariffs there - when they take their money back as US living on borrowed money - will provide Trump the first reality test here on his lack of political clout.
