Agreed. Nothing ruins an argument quicker than resorting to base level attacks. I also think safe spaces are also a problem as well, as it is all about suppressing dissenting ideas instead of arguing it out and potentially learning something yourself. And both sides are guilty of this, it's a real problem nowadays that people are absolutely incapable of evaluating ideas which they find confronting.
That said, I'm dumping on Trump already because I think he's using people's pain and situations for personal gain, and I've seen little to indicate otherwise. Happy to discuss though
