I would be interested to know who writes the response when a constituent writes to an independent MP. Given there are on average about 180 000 constituents per seat, I suspect unless the subject is a matter deemed particularly important by the MP, the response is drafted by a staffer in a formulaic manner. Pretty much as might happen if the MP belongs to a party. MP's probably don't have time to attend to the individual grievances of 180 000 people many of whom have some cause for dissatisfaction.
