I saw a news item on Bangladesh, the first country usually associated with food shortages, and they're harvesting so many potatoes this year they dont know what to do with them. Someone must have been forward thinking because it was a government policy to shift a lot of rice land into potatoes.
Interesting that they still use a lot of fertilizer, China is looking to bring on line more ethanol capacity using sweet potato as a feed stock, should add to fertilizer demand if that takes off.
