Exactly! And the crux of the alleged short-selling problem, among other things, lies with this highly questionable ASIC stance:
"ASIC is broadly supportive of short sellers believing they serve a purpose to provide liquidity and greater transparency in markets".
Exactly what 'purpose', 'who' benefits and 'how' they do so remain extremely grey and contentious areas to the majority of retail investors and the general public.
