As for US unemployment: at this stage of the economics cycle the question is: how long (how many months) it would take move the remaining unemployed people into jobs (employment)? If it is less than ~42 months, the labour market is getting tight.
Also, has the trend changed? NO, it hasn't -America is still creating jobs.
And that *is* one of the Fed's mandate.
