It is very simple analysis on the dollar cost of living, ...the real cost of living (not the CPI), and there are a lot of implications, that are not rocket science to work out. The present inflation rates quoted by the govt are totally misleading. Why? Does the government have a conflict of interest?

Watchout if you have your money in cash..be very wary.....low interest rates but real cost of living rising....so the value of the government IOU's (paper money) is in reality going down faster than what the Govt is telling us...and to quote a few of the HOTCOPPER posters, above all "do your own research"...I think the expose on the thinking of the FED in the US (recently released minutes) should be a great warning, the actions of Greenspan a lesson...but its lesson not learnt? Even the learned few can get it totally wrong when all the evidence is on the table.

There is a complete disconnect between the govt pronounced inflation and CPI and the real cost of living...prob more pronounced in the USA.

I will continue to like gold for a long time yet, and continue to e skeptical about the assumptions fed into the econometric models that are waffled about in the press. We all know how wrong the popular press can be...
