The institutional trade update webinar

Earlier today in a seminar, ABE.AX IR provided a much-needed color about the institutional trading patterns since Q4 2016, corroborating declarations made about it being highly irregular trade with a few historical incidents of the trade drying up for several quarters.

This was important, as now the (nonexistent) discussion can turn to the most important variables, namely: a) Retail (wholesale) client acquisition, activation as well as Financial Advisors activation (via Iress integration); b) Inventory build-up and Brokers onboarding; c) Platform enhancements.

Judging from the volumes, There has been a significant change of float ownership just past the IPO, but since shareholders are sitting still with new shareholders not stepping forward, probably as everyone wants to get confirmation about progress in a' above.

For the time being, the market is asking itself whether or not ABE.AX is just another tiny bond broker with shattered dreams about changing the way bonds are accessed by Retail investors or are we witnessing a tech-enabled, regulatory assisted, paradigm-changing pivotal moment in time out of which will grow a global fintech able to disrupt the way Debt and Income Products are distributed, sold and held by the Global Investment Community.

The jury is still out, but this story is worth paying very close attention to.
