Shorten is probably doing better than expected. He demolished Abbott and it was thought that against Turnbull he would be found wanting. However, Turnbull’s internal problems and the numbers have made it easy for Shorten and he has Labor in the same strong position that prevailed just before Abbott was outed.

Just stating the facts regardless the politics

Hilarious stuff.
Shorten was missing in action for most of Abbott's term, he only became emboldened when facing a weak Turnbull. Abbott had Bill's measure and they both knew it.
