Supporters of Islamic State are celebrating after a truck ploughed into crowds watching Bastille Day fireworks in Nice, killing more than 70 people.
“The number of those killed had reached 62 french crusaders and sinful infidels in Nice, France. God is great, God is great,” read one tweet, according to news agency Reuters.
The driver drove at high speed along the famed seafront of the French Riviera city before hitting the mass of spectators.
The driver was shot dead. He has not yet been identified.
The anti-terrorist section of the Paris prosecutor’s office has taken over the investigation into the attack, which took place almost eight months after IS militants killed 130 people in the French capital.
