If what is happening in the retail sector is not your garden variety downturn in a garden variety economic cycle then it's getting hit mainly because everyone overgeared on their McMansions and because of Internet shopping.
What's the government to do? Fiscal stimulus? Tax cuts? De-float the dollar?
