Rem, the children certainly did not deserve this. However, neither would the children that would have lost their fathers had the US actually invaded Japan.
Lappy makes a good point, a condition of surrender was that the royal family was not held accountable.
equally despicable was that the Japanese scientists that carried out biological warfare testing on humans (manchurians) were not prosecuted so long as they handed over their research.
this is an endless argument. Nobody will win and both sides will make pertinent points.
