What it has done to history is curtail a conflagration that would undoubtedly result in this happening again. Let’s call it the ultimate lesson learnt for the world at war.

One has to look at wars and major countries’ intentions more carefully since the dropping of the ‘bomb’. The aim is to undermine to the point of systemic failure by use of sanctions. Such has happened and happening in North Korea, Iraq and Iran. Then operations are undertaken on a much smaller scale than those historically.

It is noteworthy, the differences in how China, Russia and the US approach this. But their objectives, essentially are all the same. Each avoids the potential direct conflict route as, potentially, that ends in the Japanese option taken in the Second World War, the difference being, all three know the implications of doing that.

Sovereign safety is almost a guarantee holding a nuclear arsenal. That is why nobody has developed actions against countries like North Korea or Pakistan, it is done by sanctions and coercion of ‘friendly to perceived foe’ nations.

It’s also why Australia should arm up. It’s the ultimate deterrent to overthrow.

Yep, that's why they kept some target cities free of damage from conventional bombing.
They wanted to test out their new weapons and see how much damage they would do in comparison.
A selection of pristine targets, which ones got it depended on the weather.

There has been worse destruction from conventional attacks like fire bombing Dresden and Tokyo but it seems that there is something about radiation and chemical attacks that humans find worse than death from fire.
