    There is a difference between assets & liabilities.

    As it is comnpleted the NBN progressively becomes an asset. After decades of private sector failure in this regard, taxpayers have to fund the cost of an asset which will fuel growth in productivity & turbo-charge sectors of our economy such scientific research, finance, human services & education.

    But if we don't proceed with the NBN our ICT infrastructure will seriously underperform that of our trading partners. Now that would be a real liability which would drag badly on our productivity & define us as the lucky country with antiquated infrastructure; courtesy of Tony Abbott of course!
