Noticed that Trim, it is always a challenge to chase these sort of dipping Fan plays in either proximal or distal location.
Anadarko didn't have much joy in Liberia & SL. Woodside were in both as a JV partner in 2009 without much success & WPL sold their interest to Anadarko after the Venus-B well. FWIW's WPL current EVP Global Explorn used to b ex-VP Anadarko & also worked with Triton (u know the mob that was sold to Hess for over US3bil, primary reason for Kosmos's rebirth).
Anadarko r going alone this month at Paon in Ivory Coast targetting a Cretaceous Fan, should b 5000m deep in 2000m+ waters. 3 out of their 4 wells had varying thickness of net oil pay. Paon 1 had 31m net, P2-dry, P3-94ft, P4- 37ft with 41API crude. So will b interesting to see how Paon-5 comes up, as it sits midway between P1 & P3 wells.
Jubilee was never a straight-fwd development either. The JV thought they had the motherlode after the first 4 wells in 2007-'08 but later on had to revise the resource estimate from 500-1000-1800 mmboe to reserves of 470-675-1065 mmbbls (gross) for the Jubilee Unitised area (JUA) covered by 4 wells M1, H1, M2 & H2 after they conducted interference testing etc. GNPC basically put pressure on the JV to drill the Dev wells in 2009, wonder if Petrosen can do that in Senegal. Those 17 developmnt wells were meant 2b vertical to somewhat moderate angle wells, but some reqd ~70 deg angle to chase the oil pay. That's the nature of this beast, expect the unexpected.
Noticed FAR r presenting on the same day Cairn are nxt month 15th March.
Hope they remember to brush up the basics this time around, ie Gas oil ratio, viscosity, net oil encountered, OWC across the field, DST intervals, Core photo's for starters.
