I don't think you understand the basic issue.
The real issue IMO is that we can't move forward without an understanding of how we came to be a a nation.
European countries ensure school kids understand their history.
Here in state schools, the kids do Social Studies and maybe a project about the Aboriginals and of course an excursion to a place that features the early years such as Ballarat where they have the old village.What do they know about Governor MacQuarrie or the Aboriginal guerrillas who resisted invasion?
