I don't know what power installations those big solar salt BATTERIES use, but I was referring to Solar Salt Gradient Ponds, a simple technology that predates the Kalina cycle somewhat - and Rankine and Stirling engines are implicated. Not a waste heat opportunity, rather an opportunity to store heat and reuse it to generate power. And if these things were economically competitive in the 70's they will still stand up today.
