A story this morning tells of a car wash business going out of business because the owner has to pay his staff up to $75 per hour. He can't send the cars to Bangladesh so that's the end of the line for those staff. We've all read these stories before.
But I did learn yesterday that some Australian accounting firms are emailing their papers to Manila where the work is done for $5 an hour. The completed work is then emailed back to the office where the firm charges the customer from $200 an hour. I guess those guys are the ones who can afford to pay $75 an hour for a car wash.
Its pretty obvious where all this is going, and why it is so.
