Tesla will do whatever they need to to stay at the top of the market, changing battery manufacture, chemistry and design as they need to. My hope simply is this:
There are three ways to make anode / cathode: 1. Wet, 2. Maxwell dry, 3. DPMG dry.
If Tesla is to save money and use less chemicals and water, then they'll use a dry process.
If Tesla is saving money, then to stay competitive, other companies will have to do the same.
So ... either a competitor adopts Novonix technology via JV or royalties or take-over. Or ... as someone else pointed out on the forum, Tesla buys Novonix and holds IP for both processes, crushing any chance of competition.
The only way Novonix can fail here is if DPMG somehow proves to be extremely inferior to Maxwell, (which I don't think it can) during the scaling up and refinement process. From what I understand, I don't think it will be the case.
