Maxwell's technology had been out there before the Tesla acquisition. Novonix is more recent, although it sounds like a more advanced cement mixer from this vid. Maxwell is also a long established battery manufacturer engaged in the commercial market. Novonix is basically a university testing lab that has been bought on spec by an entrepreneur from the energy and mining industries. But the guy has pedigree.
