When I was reading the last poster of Kosman's group and the future directions in it, it looks that he is talking perhaps about same issue:
"Ferroptosis model: 434 partially protects cells from hemin-induced lipid peroxidation in a neuronal model of ferroptosis. Studies are ongoing to assess the efficacy of 434 under variable hemin conditions, and other aspects of ferroptosis such as GPX4 activity and regulation of iron status markers".
GPX4 is Glutathione peroxidase 4, It modulates cell's response to oxidative stress. Impaired GPX4 function plays a role in tumorigenesis, neurodegeneration, infertility, inflammation, immune disorders, and ischemia-reperfusion injury.
IMO, these issues are important when a Big Pharma deal is made. It is well possible that 434 works in AD and as well in many hemin-related problems as in reperfusion and hemorrhagic problems.
