Alas, not only lithium is on the skids, price-wise;https://www.msn.com/en-au/money/other/cobalt-supplies-to-swamp-market-pressure-prices-further/ar-AA18jPke?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=d62834d5cd624b1b8fa25c9d515165a5&ei=114.
There's also a fightback against EVs by the German Car Industry. Using so-called e-fuels i e 'artificial' fuels produced using no-emission electricity, they argue ICEs can be made totally carbon neutral. One of the reasons for wanting to continue with ICEs, is the weight of batteries.
The weight/power ratio is important in deciding range for EVs. Plus, there is the 'time to charge' factor as well. Even a 'fast' charge would take 10 mins.
What long term effects, if any, this will have on critical battery minerals remains to be seen. None the less, I can't see the demand for Ni,Cu or PGE's falling off, in the medium to long term, only increasing.
