I was in Giza last year, was walking up to Cheops Pyramid for the first time, stayed at the palace next door to it also, which was cool. Anyway, walking up to the Big Pyramid and these two blokes approached me and my wife and demanded that I pay an entry fee. I was about to give them 10 dollars (or equivalent), when another bloke yelled out to me, not to pay. Buggers where hustling me. First day in Egypt, so never did get hustled, but I bet they wouldn't got a year in jail if they did.
Another story, same place, a policeman called me and the family over, he led us down a path (nobody else around) and took my camera from me, took some photos of me and the crew, wanted a tip (lol) had a machine gun, so he got the about one dollar, and we took off, great photos though, worth a buck. But a bit scary and if caught, somehow I think I would have ended up in jail and not them.
God I could go on and on, you have to pay for having a pee in the toilet and it never ends.
However,
I loved Egypt, greatest place for history I've ever been to.
