australian politics will never be great until - a total revamp in the system -
part of which requires the total banning of contributions from both individuals and business -
ZERO donations, ZERO gifts - and ZERO lobbying. (and monstrous jail terms for breaches - both the politician involved AND directors and executives of companies - mandatory jail terms for breaches, no appeals)
ZERO jobs for politicians in any companies which had been effected by law changes for 5 years before leaving politics
but, all of this could be avoided ------------- ditch the lot, ditch elections - bring in government by selection - sortition
because all of the problems stem from the election system
(let's not mention federation - that's an even bigger bite to take)
