Might go ok but there is alot of water in pits throughout the basin after record rainfall, the gov has strict water discharging limits on all mines in the fitzroy basin. Water management is a huge concern as you can't mine what's underwater and the longer the water from the rains stays in the pit the worse it's quality becomes. Under the current conditions from the DERM mines may only discharge when the receiving waters are flowing and then it has to adhere to volume and quality conditions- you can't just turn the pumps on and empty the pits. Coal seams equal water with high electrical conductivity - salty. Ask the company how much water it is currently storing on it's sites and how long it would take to empty it with current infrastructure... How does this affect long term planning?
