The macro picture

Putting aside company specific issues re efficacy and safety, the timing of the IPO could be influenced by general investment appetite for risk assets like shares with a looming (September) rate -hike increase in the US. The chartists amongst you may have a better view of the likely trend fluctuations of the Nasdaq & Dow Jones in the near term. It is unlikely that we will see a major correction as with did in the wake of the GFC (because there is no GFC this time) but with the absence of the liquidity the Fed reserve was injecting into the US economy, it is possible there will be a moderation in share price appreciation. How will this impact biotechs and Benitec's IPO timing is a question worth thinking about - and perhaps one that management & underwriters are contemplating.
