    Mozart56, there is no difference between Christmas Island and Nauru, they both limit asylum seekers access to the Australian legal system.

    Nauru also needs the current Labor legislation to pass before it can be used. Though I don't know why we would want to use Nauru, it was excessively expensive when it was used and as I said it has no advantages over Christmas Island.

    TPVs are the best weapon to reduce the boat arrivals.


    The boat arrival issue should not be such a political point scoring match and all our politicians should be trying to find some middle ground to resolve the issues.

    The "Pacific Solution" had bipartisan support in 2001 from both the Liberal-National government and Labor opposition at the time, so it can be done.

    On another note, has anyone actually looked into the special treatment and protection the Malaysian government are offering the 800 Asylum seekers from Australia?
