I don't disagree with a mining resource tax, but it should be nominal spread across all miners.
But the current plan excludes the big boys as they cut a deal that in the main excludes them.
Mining boom is not hurting the economy, it is the Government that is hurting the economy.
All these new taxes (carbon, mining etc) coupled with cutting back 30% health rebate to people earning over $83k send a message to the world that Australia's finances must in a problem.
I will dump my health insurance and watch the public system implode under the weight of many others doing the same thing.
I don't mind paying health insurance but you are never fully covered anyway (Gap) so it is a pointless system to fund paritial insurance.
