The writing was on the wall? The market never expected the deal to consumate. The chart got it right?

Well, the market size is 250 million shares.
The sales during the period in question was 5.5 million shares .... basically 2.5%. .... mostly from one seller.

And you say the market'knew it' .....?
Clearly from the numbers ... the market DIDN'T know it at all!

The chart got it right, you say. NO! the chart reflected the sale of 2.5 million shares in one month. It got nothing right or wrong. It just relected that 2.5% of the comapny's shares turned over in one month. Nothing right or wrong about it.

Can you ask the chart what is going to happen next month ?
I would like to see if the chart gets it right.
