2009 may not be make or break for RRS. It will only be a matter of time until natural resources are exploited.

With the support of UN nation builing initiatives, Puntland is a very fast developing nation. The soon to be announced Constitution, will form the guiding principles for Puntland to anchor its policies aimed at achieving socioecomic goals. Exploiting natural resources is clearly one of the goals, but peace-keeping initiatives may very well be amongst the highest of all priorities.

Amidst all the corruption that goes on in Puntland and Somalia, there appears to be a great diversity of development in many dimensions.

In recent years, the UN have been running out of patience with the devolutionary cycle of Somalia. At the same time we have seen political institutions in Puntland emerge within a blink of an eye. Macro-economic policies have been addressed to ensure that goals are met, and we have witnessed the implementation of strategic projects, some aimed at maximising employment outcomes.
