Agree, something very similar happened with Gunns Bell Bay Pulp Mill, where former rock band singer Garret, Min for Environment overturned a multi billion dollar project which was based on renewable plantation timber, and would have produced 100MW of renewable electricity, to satisfy some retired public servants who lived out their privileged lives amidst vineyards. It was fully approved by Tas Government.
On the other side of the river, an industrial zone had existed far longer than these vineyards, housing an Aluminium smelter, Manganese refinery, power station and woodchip export plant. Gunns were going to be value adding these same woodchips and employing around 1000 workers.
