Hmm I read something interesting today from one of the higher Islamic figures in Australia - make what you want of it but on title of the header I obviously thought it was just some big push for mosques in Australia. He had a very reasonable point to his argument though. By many blocking the building of new mosques that are lead by the more respected leaders they are in turn contributing to the development of all these extremist factions the very point many are fearfull of and trying to remove. He went on to say that without good order it's driving many into these "backyard" type factions that breeds extremists and causes the friction between muslim and non muslim people.
I'm sure many could and probably will argue - but I find it hard to really not take into account the significant point he is making.
