Not sure what gives you the impression wood prices with pulp mill next door would go up? The opposite is true in Gippsland where Australian Paper operate a pulp mill.

Also Tasmanian plantations almost all nitens (not blue gum). Far less valuable in depressed global market. Gunns had no choice but to plant that species in Tassie due to climate, but potential purchasers of the estate will write down market value because of that factor. Like comparing lamb and mutton.

Gunns is gone. The money is gone. Assets worth less than debt. No positive cash flow from operating activites for several years. Management and board 100% responsible. This outcome has been clear to anyone with their eyes open for the last 3 years. Been a slow, horrible and avoidable death.
