What a lot of people don't seem to grasp, even many that are a similar line to me, that the Word in 1 & 2, is not referencing the Word, in any expressed form = it's the mind and reason, plan and purpose within God, the Likes of Eph 3:9.
In beginning was the Word - mind and reason of someone, then you're given a hint, that something is going on.
There is never a word, that is not assigned to your inner thinking, the beginning of that inner creation, where they begin = You - And God was/is the Word.
Wisdom etc is personified, so John could have been as fitting - In Beginning I AM the Word and the Word I AM toward (unto) the God.
You also need to pay attention to what they leave out = "THE" God, the entire subject in 1:1, the singular identity = The One Holy Spirit = Father.
His word = Spirit - In the Beginning was the Spirit and the Spirit was toward (unto) the God and God was/is the Spirit - John 4:24
And LO-BEHOLD, you can be born again by the Spirit or the word of God 1 Peter 1:23 = note, 23 represents 11 = The Seed.
So = That which is born of SPIRIT/WORD is Spirit/Word = Heb 4:12 = SIMPLES
