That rationale doesn't work. You need to consider the overall history, and the actions that Mohammad took in establishing his new religion.
Not to mention the violence that is both instructed and condoned in the Quran.
It's not a holy book or an expression of a religion of peace.
On the contrary, Mohammad was a warlord, a raider of caravans, a slave owner and someone who had no problem with executing his opponents, for which he was poisoned by the wife of one of his victims.
A holy man, a man of peace? Hardly.
