Interesting your comments about using the 13 period ma for small miners. I have been using a combo of 5, 8 and 13 ma (pref. exponential) for finding turn points in 1 minute charts for FX scalping. Originally read about an hourly 13/8 EMA crossover technique for FX, and then found that a combo of the 5, 8 and 13 also worked well on the smaller timeframes...

Why these numbers?

Fibbonacci sequence based, same as with retracement, only time based... 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21. ..

Smacks of the voodoo (read'I don't actually have the reasoning behind why these numbers have such importance') But - Undeniable useful arrow in the sheath.
