Climate change deniers have been the comic relief on political forums for years..... but the numbers are dwindling as the evidence of damage to societies and economies around the world accumulated with increasing frequency and intensity of climate related disasters.

The extent of the flooding in Pakistan, contributed to by mismanagement of upstream dams to mitigate and divert flooding from one area to another, less populous region, is the latest demonstration of the seriousness of global warming.

With the Albanese Gov legislating its Energy and Emissions laws, Aus will finally be getting back on track to actually achieve meaningful emissions reductions.

our little cohort of conservative posters are disproportionate to the numbers of people in the community who oppose action on climate change. yet its astonishing how these people rule to political forum with anti-science and anti-left propaganda and memes. What they need to know is the true cost of failing to act on emissions.

The social cost of carbon is a monetary value of the harms of climate change associated with emitting an additional tonne of carbon dioxide.

Estimating this cost should capture harms to human health, decreased agricultural productivity, damages from natural disasters and other effects on the economy.

A study this month in Nature put the global social cost of carbon at A$275 per tonne of CO₂ released. Impacts on health (49%) and agriculture (45%) accounted for most of this.

posters please note: despite all the stuff posted about how plants love to suck up CO2 and other nonsense, the costs of global warming are much higher that the cost of transitioning away from carbon-based fuels, fertilisers and managing effluent and logistics.

we have the technology - elsewhere in the world the technology is widely accepted, but Aus has been retarded by stubborn denialism. the costs to Aussies is therefore increased as we are doing more damage to our economy, society and environment by our negligence...... the tech is developing rapidly and costs of transition are falling.

the sooner we adopt emissions controls and replace old ICE with EVs the better.
