I think you're right in that he may have been 'placed'. I met with him a month ago on an unrelated matter that strongly suggested he was, at least then, staying put.
I know this'll attract a few TDs, but I'm not a fan of this appointment. I respect David Wall highly as a quality analyst of junior O&G coys, but leading a junior to new value-adding deals is (and lets be real here) a completely different skill set. Mike Evans and George Staley will help him a lot no doubt, yet David is going to find running, leading and growing a public coy a real-world challenge.
We must also consider the possibility that his fellow analysts are unlikely to go easy on him and his new company. But lets wait to see and hear the new strategy from the new board. I expect the national road show to start after Easter and probably head to London as well.
