I myself have actively looked for a decent supplier of MT1/MT2 and have found nothing. None seem to even certify the quality of their products and they are all fairly dodgy with fake addresses and poor customer service etc. You’re also pretty much guaranteed to get a product that is mixed with a whole lot of who knows what. I’ve looked at online discussion boards as well and it seems everyone has a very tough time finding anything that’s good. I also can’t imagine any doctors in Aus prescribing Afamelanotide for anything other than EPP, do you know of any? What is the price to purchase this off label in Aus? Genuinely interested if you know anyone/anything about this.
There are most certainly far greater side effects associated with the illegal versions. The lack of purity and incorrect usage exacerbates the side effects to such an extent you have to be really keen for a tan to use it (some are, most aren’t). Of course MT2 is also completely different to MT1 in that it crosses the blood brain barrier, introducing a range of other potential side effects in some people that aren’t present for users of Scenesse. I think the majority of people, myself included, will simply will not purchase medical products (especially injectables) off the internet regardless of need, but will immediately rush to buy it when it’s on the shelves of your local pharmacy.
I think I heard that illicit MT2 sales is a c.$50m p.a industry (you may be in a better proposition to confirm deny this), I’d say that would be around 1% of people who would be interested in using a sunless tanning product, with the large majority either unwilling to inject themselves several times a week with an unapproved drug, purchase products via dodgy and illegal suppliers, or simply don’t have the willpower to do the necessary research themselves. After all, why would anyone get a fake spray on tan if they could get a real one risk free?
