What concerns me is that the motivated seller believes that taking a big loss today is less painful than taking a bigger loss tomorrow. The motivated seller may believe that the stock price will be lower in the future or they are facing greater losses outside of this trade. The prospect that the seller (who clearly has deeper pockets than me) faces greater losses outside of this trade concerns me from a macro pov. What losses are they facing on their books that would force a fire sale? I'll never know.....but someone in addition to me must be facing a huge haircut on this trade. Unless of course they have a currency hedge to offset their loss.
