One thing though Iceman, from what I have read is that the PRISM reactor uses very little enriched Uranium.
In that PDF that I posted, they talk about depleted Uranium, this is not the same as the tails sitting at Paducah from what I understand, it is basically the recovered Uranium sometimes referred to as RepU which has been stripped away from the Plutonium, in order for them to be able to reuse this as LEU back in a LWR, it will have to either be re-enriched to a higher degree OR they need to separate the Uranium out of the RepU away from the harmful actinides , or they could just use it in a CANDU reactor which would mean that it is only used once, but the whole reason for them wanting to reuse it in a LWR from what I read, is that they want the recovered Plutonium that these LWR's produce for the PRISM reactors, they intend to do this until the LWR has reached it's useful life, the calculations they have done was on them using all of the available LWR's in the US to achieve that figure they mentioned of 2,138. TWy.
That's 2,138 terra watt years (not hours!), looking at the graph on page 4 of that PDF, it shows that the US has used to date, from all records taken and from all sources, i.e, coal, gas ,light water reactors etc is 251 Terra Watt years!

So the way I see it is this, if they need to either re-enrich the RepU to a higher degree? is this why they looked at 10% for Wilmington? or they need to strip out the Uranium away from the other actinides, either way they will need some sort of plant to achieve that? Could it be ACP? Laser Isotope Separation? my bet is on the LIS somehow, but ether way, if they do do that then there will be absolutely no need to purchase any Uranium in the US for hundreds of years and it won't require a hell of a lot of enrichment because it is already LEU anyway? but it would require some pretty specialised sort of technology to do either of those things that I mentioned but it would be a different sort of plant than what they initially proposed at Wilmington I suspect (different License would be required), if it is Silex (LIS) then we should be in the money big time though because the Silex process would still be the enabling technology.
