Labor and Liberal anti-refugee policies are to blame. I'm not interested in who drowned more refugees or caused more to go mad or attempt suicide in prison.
It's mandatory detention LAWS that need abolishing along with offshore prison camps. There has to be a better way (not to control or deter) but to help as many refugees as we can. The biggest and most divise issue is queue-jumpers. Why not level the playing field (not by punishing rich refugees) but by having a 1.5% tax on our taxable income (like the Medicare levy) to fly poor refugees (who've been classified by the UN as 'genuine') to Australia for re-settlement.
