===================================================== And news print articles announced the same:
“THE Northern Territory's Browns Oxide Project, which will become a significant copper, nickel and cobalt export operation, has been awarded Major Project Facilitation (MPF) status by the Australian Government.
The new status is in recognition of the national significance of the project which is being undertaken by Compass Resources NL, according to the government
The project is expected to commence production in 2007 and will generate export revenue of about $100 million a year. It is likely to become a major player in the global cobalt market, producing about 2% of world supply, the government said”. ===========================================================
And we as shareholders got behind them and supported this new “Major Project of National Significance” with our hard earned cash and a belief were involved in something special. Something Significant...
And now we need some support in return, to help retain this “Major Project of National Significance”.
Was it all rhetoric and empty, meaningless words from our politicians only two short years ago. Or was there integrity and sincerity and a sense of Aussie pride when they announced Compass Resources as a “Major Project of National Significance”.
Surely it is no less a “Major Project of National Significance” now, than when it was announced in July of 2006.
In fact after spending over $200 Million on the Oxide plant that is now so close to full Copper, Nickel, and Cobalt production, and also with the DFS on the massive Sulphides deposits at an advanced stage the Project should be of more Significance than ever.
It’s the very kind of resource project that we will need to help get this country back on its feet when the worlds demand for resources picks up again. There are small signs of this occurring already. And it would be a tragedy see our company and its Significant natural resources end up in foreign hands.
Let our politicians actions now, be a litmus test for our belief in the words they will speak in the future...
But to be fair write to your local member, or one or both of those below to bring the plight of this “Major Project of National Significance” to their attention. Lets save the farm together, before its to late... ========================================================= Minister Martin Ferguson Federal Minister for Resources and Energy Martin.Ferguson,[email protected] ======================================================== Kon Vatskalis - Member for Casuarina/NT Minister for Primary Industry, Fisheries and Resources Email: [email protected] ===========================================================
