but backyard turbines need to be installed at around 100metres tall in order to catch the wind. here below the treetops the wind is pretty mild in comparison and therefore can't expect the full nameplate energy production.
such towers won't fit in my backyard and the surrounding trees are pretty tall. even if perched precariously on my roof the ground base for securing the tower is pretty vast if it is to secure to turbine at the top. and yep, I've had a couple of quotes done.
as much as I've love to add a wind turbine to my array, its plainly not feasible.
