It would streamline the economies, giving governments more revenue. But if you've ever been to Africa and witnessed firsthand just how corruption breeds in cash societies and the terrible sad economic consequences you could see how necessary it would be to expose third world and developing countries to generational economic improvement.
Slowly but surely CBs are drawing the noose around the cash economies. It might be in part as a trade off for governments to ease fiscal policy in these times of unfetted easing. That's a guess by the way.
